For me, good old fashioned back breaking work helps to relieve stress and gets me back in tune with what life is all about...the simple things. Every day at my 9-5 I dream of being home in my garden watching plants grow and thrive. For the time being, my job is funding many projects around the "tiny farm" and I couldn't be more grateful.

A friend approached us about providing produce for the cast and crew of a well known TV show that films in our area every year. I'm not disclosing the name of the show at this time, but I will eventually if we end up doing business with them.
So on that note, what was going to be a season of growing for the family has gotten a little more demanding! I can't say no to an opportunity like this because I'm blessed/cursed with a business mind!

After already spending a fortune on seeds this year, I bought MORE, in hopes that we can make this venture work. Now the hard part is juggling this with the job that pays the bills.
I would love to eventually transition to "farming" full time. This will be a great trial run to see if we can actually make something like this work. The main items they are interested in are garlic, onions, lettuce, leeks, tomatoes and microgreens, but it sounds like they are open to any and all produce they can get their hands on. There is another business in town that produces lettuce on a massive scale, so I'm sure they will be a main supplier for most of their lettuce needs.
Over the last couple years I have ditched some business ventures that never took off. However, I really see something like this doing well in our little town. There is a huge demand for fresh grown produce, and no matter what the economy is doing...people need to eat!

Aside from growing food, I am also experimenting with growing flowers this year.
I will be growing dahlias, sunflowers, pampas, aster, yarrow and many other flowers for the first time! I'm going to need all the luck I can get!
Below are just a few flower varieties I am trying this year...Peaches and Cream Dahlia, Bonita White Asters, Favorite Berries Yarrow, Cafe Au Lait Dahlia and Celosia. I have a total of 33 dahlia tubers on order that should be here in the coming weeks!
The garden is almost prepped and ready! We just need to lay the weed mat, burn holes and lay drip tape. I want to get this done asap so we can get the cold weather crops outside.
