Microgreens + Seedlings Grow Space

Updated: Feb 17, 2024

I'm finally diving in and just buying the supplies I need to start growing microgreens in my spare bedroom. It's late April and I've had seedlings going in the spare for a couple months, but I've been tripping over supplies the whole time!

I will get straight to the point so here is what I purchased...

These shelves got everything off the floor and you can actually walk into the room without tripping over supplies. You can fit a total of twenty trays on this rack (4 on each shelf), with storage space on the top shelf.

The 6 pack of Barrina grow lights fits perfectly on these shelves. I put them two per shelf and they have the ability to daisy chain together so you only have to plug in one cord.

Growing in a carpeted spare bedroom isn't ideal. I was nervous of ruining the carpet so I invested in these floor runners and of course a dehumidifier to control the humidity.

I chose this digital hygrometer because every grow space should have a way to measure temperature and humidity.

This outlet timer has made life a lot easier! Now I don't need to remember my lights before heading off to work or going to bed!

Bootstrap Farmer is the place to shop for 1020 trays. These shallow trays are durable and will last for years! Oh, and that's not cilantro in the pic, it's a tomato :)

As soon as I transfer these seedlings to their new home outside, I will start playing around with growing microgreens. My goal is to grow them year round and possibly supply some local stores in the area.

I would love to grow them outside in my greenhouse, but unfortunately it is not temperature controlled. Here in Montana we hit below zero temps in the winter and get 90-100 degree temps in the summer. Having a temperature controlled environment will make growing microgreens a lot more predictable.
